Centra Medical Group (CMG) is comprised of 500+ Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers and serves 600,000 central and southern Virginians. CMG offers an integrated healthcare system, including 4 hospitals, 5 regional medical centers, 70+ physician practices, including primary care, medical, and surgical specialists. Centra is continuing to grow, with plans to expand into a larger campus in the next few years. These plans include the construction of a new specialty office building, which will house the Brain and Spine programs along with other surgical specialists. In addition, a new 5-story patient care tower will house an additional 100 patients at Lynchburg General Hospital. The LGH ED will be replaced and incorporated as part of the new Northeast Tower. The new Emergency Department will include 71 treatment bays, five trauma bays and four imaging rooms. Enhancements will include a split flow model of care to expedite and enhance patient experience of care, an integrated EmPATH psychiatric patient space, super track/imaging/results lounge and improved connectivity and utilization of the ED observation unit.

About the Practice
The CMG Neurosciences division has grown significantly in the past several years to include specialized Epilepsy services complete with epilepsy monitoring unit, neurodiagnostic and research, stroke and neurovascular services and development of a comprehensive headache center with plans for expansion to treating concussions. CMG Neurosciences has also developed a movement disorders program and a dedicated MS Clinic to address these patients' specific needs. This will include the development of a robust DBS program including surgical options and medical management of DBS devices. The department has 3 full time neurosurgeons trained in spine, complex spine, and vascular neurosurgery. Within the neurovascular services, the team offers a full range of clinical capability from endovascular procedures to open cerebrovascular procedures addressing AVMs, aneurysms, and tumors. Finally, the department has begun to dedicate resources to the development of research within the Neurosciences department; these efforts will continue to expand with the addition of the MS clinic and the Movement Disorders program.
Joining a three surgeon and 4 APP neurosurgery group that is expanding into a multimillion-dollar complex in 2025 and looking for another experienced APP to fit into the group. This does include OR, office and hospital responsibilities. Regular hours are 8-5, which varies based on hospital coverage and call. On call responsibilities include weekday and weekend coverage which is compensated at a competitive rate. Experience is preferred with some type of surgical background, but we will consider a candidate who is the right fit. We have an excellent group of surgeons and APP who will work to help bring this new provider up to speed to help service our busy community hospital.
About the Role
- Shift times – OP Clinic Mon-Fri (8a-5p) w/ OR coverage 1-2 days/week (dependent upon surgeon assignment)
- Schedule - Varies based on call schedule, OR, etc.
- Experienced or non-experienced? Would love to have an experienced NP but would consider nonexperience if the right fit.
- OR days / Clinic Days – 1:4 or 2:3 depending on need.
