JOB PURPOSE:To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with CSUSA philosophy, goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Planning and Preparation

  • Create or select long-range plans based on a review of system and state curriculum priorities, student profiles and instructional priorities.
  • Define goals and objectives for unit and daily plans.
  • Sequence content and activities appropriately.
  • Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable.
  • Revise plans based on student needs.
  • Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student's culture, learning styles, special needs and socio-economic background.
  • Develop routines and efficient techniques for minimizing time required for administrative and organizational activities.
  • Manage materials and equipment effectively.
  • Organize materials for efficient distribution and collection
  • Keep abreast of developments in instructional methodology, learning theory, curriculum trends and content.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner and adhere to professional standards at all times.
  • Ensure that student growth/achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area and/or student program classification.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  1. Possess basic language skills consistent with a high school education, including writing and speaking.
  2. Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of students in the age group assigned.
  3. Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum.
  4. Knowledge of current educational research.
  5. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
  6. Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
  7. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
  8. Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
  9. Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
  10. Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.
  11. Has the ability to communicate effectively with adults in a variety of settings.
  12. Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet/Email.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:

  • Usual office working conditions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS     

  • No physical exertion required.
  • Travel within or outside of employment.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.

DECLARATION
The Charter Schools USA Human Resources Department retains the sole right and discretion to make changes to this job description. Any employee making changes unauthorized by Human Resources Department will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Current FACS teaching license (grades 9-12), issued by the Indiana Department of Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Certified by the State of Indiana in Home Economics or Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements.
  • Minimum 2 year College Degree required
  • Two (2) years of successful experience in a related field
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Must have access to dependable transportation.
