MANAGER BUSINESS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

 

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? This role will be critical in managing process excellence and governance across City National Bank. The individual will be responsible for building out a Process Improvement and Process Management Center of Excellence, in collaboration with Risk and Business executives. Will need to collaborate closely across all lines of defence (LOD) to solution new structures and processes to support business process owners across the bank. 

 

What you will do
  • Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision making amongst leadership.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining process taxonomy for 1LOD to prioritize assessment of process and control gaps based on various inputs.
  • Responsible for effective change management of changes being introduced to first line of defense through the GRC Office and 1LOD Risk Workstream.
  • Responsible for performing and leading teams to provide business requirements, subject matter expertise on bank processes and controls, risk management goals, and work with Business Process and Control Improvement team to develop repeatable, quantifiable, and sustainable business process improvements.
  • Maintain process taxonomy and inventory by Division
  • Run Process Documentation programs to document each process, sub-process, and corresponding controls, which includes procedures, desktop procedures, process with control maps, metrics with guardrails, on-going monitoring routines, and issue escalation processes.
  • Act as brand ambassador for continous process improvevment and developing solid working relationships across the organization as to facilitate communication and strategic partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively across the business functions to challenge current state processes, and test and develop innovative future state processes, while understanding and communicating upstream/downstream impact of proposed changes.
  • Communicates project status and milestone completion to department head and key business stakeholders
  • Lead development of the process change management / user adoption strategy and metrics
  • Supports a high-performance environment by fostering an inclusive work environment, helping/elevating peers, and taking ownership of individual developmental goals
  • Engages in supervisory duties, performance management, and hiring of direct reports
  • Assists management with developing budget estimates, work prioritization, and manage resources to the annual budget
  • Contribute to ad-hoc assignments and special projects

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial services with a good understanding of the fundamental principles of banking, project management, and business control work
  • Minimum of 4 years in operations, risk management, quality assurance, compliance, or an internal control/audit capacity

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience leading operational process improvement and/or risk projects across multiple business lines offering a wide variety of financial services products and services
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and equivalent methodologies
  • Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (required), including Microsoft, PowerPoint, Excel; preferably also Microsoft Visio
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong knowledge of rules and regulations of at least two of these regulators desired: OCC, CFPB, FRB, FINRA, SEC, and FFIEC
Compensation Starting base salary: $127,626 - $237,014 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
