GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Detention Facility Manager, performs responsible supervisory work coordinating the food service an d laundry operations at the detention facility. Work involves responsibility for the efficient operation, supervision, and preparation of a variety of foods, the care and cleaning of kitchen equipment and facility. Work also involves record maintenance, as we ll as responsibility for ensuring adherence to a prescribed schedule, and safetyand sanitation standards. Incumbent may also supervise and instruct subordinates in all aspects of laundry operations, including duties such as cleaning the laundry rutingand disitb and sorting clothing items. Exercises independent judgment within prescribed standards and regulations. Tours of duty are on a shift basis (day and/or night), may include weekends and holidays and are subject to rotation. Performs other work as reques ted.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and three years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Ability to obtain State Department of Education School Food Service Training Certification.

OTHER JOB ASPECTS
In accordance with Licensing Standards of the Louisiana Administrative Code (Title 67, Part V, Subpart 8, Chapter 75, Juvenil e Detention Facilities, §7511. Facility Responsibilities, B. Criminal Background Clearance), all emof this classification assigned to the Juvenile Services Detention Center must pass a criminal background check and/or be fingerprinted at the time of appointment. Both appointment and continued employment at this location is contingent upon the abilo pass a criminal background check. Failure to pass a criminal background check renders a candidate or current employee ineligible fet employmn at this location.
