As an Auto Service Person II you'll focus on servicing automotive vehicles and equipment, including vehicle recovery and delivery. You'll be responsible for routine inspections and non-mechanical servicing
What will you do?
- Deliver units to commercial vendors, operate a wide range of units to assist in diagnosis and repair
- Drive defective automotive equipment to a repair shop
- Complete minor repairs to the entire range of City of Edmonton vehicles
- Assist journeyman mechanics in the repair of automotive and construction equipment
- Lubricate, transport and provide general service to the complete range of automotive, heavy truck, light truck, turf and small agricultural equipment, specialty units (ice resurfacer), construction equipment, components and attachments common to municipal and utility fleets
- Services and install batteries, light bulbs, lenses, fuses, signal light flashers, radiator, heater hoses, and windshield wiper blades as well as order parts for the jobs assigned
- Complete field servicing as assigned
- Visually inspects vehicle components such as tie rod ends, universal joints, brake hoses, exhaust systems, and oil and coolant systems for excessive wear or leaks and reports findings to a journeyman or foreperson
- Greet and assist customers in defining and identifying problems and obtaining services offered by the Branch
- Process documentation related to work orders, including data entry, filing, and record keeping within the Fleet Management System (M5)
- Maintain accurate records of all parts used and time spent on assigned work orders
- Assist with general administrative duties as required by the shop foreperson
- Perform general labour and shop duties such as maintaining shop cleanliness and organization, managing oil and fluids inventory, and assisting with parts stocking and disposal
- Assist in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment in the service bay
- Perform other duties as required
