Lead corporate Human Resource programs and services to shape the future of employment at the City of Edmonton!

Using your deep understanding of program design and delivery, do you expertly partner with leaders and HR professionals to design and deliver programs, services, tools and resources based on a combination of employee insights and research into HR best practices? The City of Edmonton is seeking an exceptional individual to lead our Talent, Diversity and Employee Experience team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience within our dynamic municipal organization.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, Corporate HR Programs and Services, the Director, Talent, Diversity and Employee Experience leads the development and oversight of a number of corporate HR programs and services for the City of Edmonton, focusing on key areas such as: learning and development, talent development, equity, diversity and inclusion, employee well-being and engagement. This position also oversees other corporate frameworks, policies, systems, and processes that foster a safe, inclusive, and diverse workplace.

What will you do?

  • Lead Talent Development Programs and Initiatives: Lead corporate strategies and approaches to sustain a positive employee experience, including annual performance systems and leadership competency models, career development, talent reviews and succession, organization design and team effectiveness
  • Foster Diversity, Equity, Reconciliation and Inclusion: embed principles of inclusion, diversity, and equity across the corporation through a multi-faceted approach that includes educating and consulting employees, developing strategic tools, and ensuring accountability through data and reporting. Support the City's Indigenous Awareness and Outreach program, focused on creating a workplace where Indigenous employees feel proud and supported
  • Manage Learning and Leadership Development Programs: manage corporate learning programs, including training design, delivery and administration in alignment with the City's strategic priorities, providing expert advice and support to ensure employees have the skills and knowledge to succeed
  • Promote a Positive and Productive Work Environment: lead employee experience programs that promote employee performance and engagement, such as hybrid work, recognition and mental health and well-being. Work collaboratively with internal partners to build a workforce that is resilient, adaptable, and highly motivated
  • Provide Expert Guidance and Counsel: Serve as a trusted advisor to all levels of the organization through corporate HR frameworks and policies related to the employee experience, including to the Executive Leadership Team. Provide insightful analysis and strategic recommendations to inform key decision-making
  • Lead a Team of HR and Subject Matter Professionals: Developing and translating strategies into initiatives, managing resources and budgets, anticipating business opportunities, influencing policy, and fostering accountability through performance measurement
