Description

The City of Edmonton is looking for a visionary leader to join the Parks and Roads Services branch as the Manager, Planning and Monitoring. This pivotal role sits at the heart of our Safe Mobility section, providing the data-driven foundation for the City's Vision Zero initiative. By overseeing the collection and analysis of mobility data, you will directly influence how our city prioritizes safety and infrastructure to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. We are seeking a strategic expert who can translate complex technical insights into actionable strategies that shape the future of Edmonton's streets. If you are passionate about using data to create safer, more equitable mobility for everyone, we encourage you to apply.

Reporting to the General Supervisor of Planning and Programming, you will lead a diverse team of up to 25 professionals dedicated to mobility monitoring and program evaluation. You serve as the corporation's senior expert on mobility data, setting the strategic direction for how this information is governed and integrated across various departments. Your leadership ensures that Vision Zero data is accurate, trusted, and used as a primary corporate asset for evidence-based decision-making. By collaborating with leaders across the City, you will align team capacity with Council's direction to support both operating and capital priorities. This role is essential in fostering a coordinated, enterprise-wide approach to transportation planning and safety. Ultimately, you are the bridge between complex technical analysis and the strategic policies that move our city forward.

  • Lead and mentor two Team Leads and their respective teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and psychological safety
  • Set the corporate direction for mobility data governance, ensuring consistency with data standards and emerging technology trends
  • Serve as a primary advisor to senior leadership, identifying risks, opportunities, and trends in traffic safety and municipal analytics
  • Oversee the design of analytical frameworks, dashboards, and forecasting tools that inform engineering and investment decisions
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships across the corporation to embed mobility data into long-range planning and major capital programs
  • Manage operational work plans, budgets, and business cases while aligning team resources with Council's priorities
