Description

Are you a project management and continuous improvement professional passionate about public engagement? The City of Edmonton is seeking a Methods and Practices Lead to join the Office of the City Manager's Integrated Communications section. This role is a key part of our commitment to evolving our public engagement methods, practices, and capacity building. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing best practices and innovative approaches to ensure our teams have the skills to deliver high-quality public engagement. This position also leads the development of community capacity for participating in and leading engagement activities. 

What will you do?

  • Project-manage the development and delivery of continuous improvement activities and learning and training opportunities, to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of public engagement services across the City of Edmonton
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new engagement tools and techniques by conducting needs assessments and applying knowledge of best practices
  • Lead the evaluation and standardization of engagement templates, practices and methods to ensure they remain relevant to the community and are effective in reaching the voices and perspectives the City needs to hear
  • Help identify and nurture ongoing relationships with external community partners in the not-for-profit, private, and post-secondary sectors whose work connects with public engagement at the City
  • Align public engagement activities with corporate plans and strategic frameworks such as The City Plan, the Indigenous Framework, and the Anti-Racism Strategy
  • Provide technical guidance and consult with City leadership on annual strategic business plans and work plans
  • Supervise summer students and guide their work as they research and develop improvements to public engagement processes and practices
