As a Natural & Human History Interpreter at the John Walter Museum, Muttart Conservatory, the John Janzen Nature Centre and other locations, you will inspire, motivate and connect guests to Edmonton's history, local plants & animals, and exotic plants & animals from around the world.
What will you do?
- Lead and assist in developing a variety of educational programs including school & group programs, day camps, birthday parties, and other registered programs
- Deliver drop-in programs & activities for the general public which consist of crafts, games, reading stories, performing experiments, roving, guided hikes/tours, group presentations, and theatrical activities like role playing
- Engage with and provide excellent customer service to the public, including children, parents/guardians, teachers, participants and group leaders
- Manage group dynamics and behaviours, including resolving conflicts between program participants
- Respond to incidents, including those requiring first aid
- Oversee volunteers during programs like day camps and at special events
- Assist in the maintenance of artifacts, exhibits and program supplies
- Set up and clean up program activities and events, including lifting of tables and chairs
- Independently research program content & activities and complete administrative tasks
- Work at the John Janzen Nature Centre, Muttart Conservatory, John Walter Museum and other locations in the city based on facility needs
- Conduct other related duties as required
