Are you a leader ready to shape the future of Fort Edmonton Park? We're seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of our vibrant site, reporting directly to the Director. This pivotal role manages a substantial expense budget and leads a dedicated team of permanent and non-permanent/part-time employees. You'll be instrumental in driving revenue, coordinating key outcome areas, and ensuring exceptional facility and site operations. This includes direct supervision of team leaders, spearheading emergency preparedness, fostering a safe workplace, and managing critical areas like, animal welfare, strategic planning, environmental initiatives, and financial oversight. You'll contribute facility-specific expertise to capital development and master plans,, and collaborate across all business units to coordinate operations and events.

What will you do?

  • Provide operational and technical oversight at each facility
  • Offer timely decisions, direction, advice, and guidance to employees, ensuring equitable distribution of work
  • Build a healthy and respectful workplace culture, encouraging staff growth, development, motivation, and empowerment
  • Evaluate and adjust workloads, resources, and priorities to meet departmental expectations
  • Ensure coordinated, monitored, measured, and evaluated employee activities for high-performing teams
  • Coach staff in problem-solving related to program and service development to achieve Fort Edmonton Park goals
  • Oversee unit performance management, including investigations of misconduct and disciplinary actions
  • Develop learning plans for employees, including ongoing mentoring and empowerment
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff for various positions to ensure a suitable and stable workforce
  • Manage and strategically oversee building asset maintenance, inventory, rolling stock, heritage programs (train, rail, gardens, agriculture, livestock, midway), site safety and security, and vegetation management
  • Conform with operational and legislative requirements and align policies with City/Department/Branch goals
  • Provide clear direction and vision for facility operations and site coordination, including business planning, performance indicators, and financial plans
