Are you looking to apply your knowledge and skills in land use planning to the review of subdivision proposals across the city? If so, here is your opportunity to be part of the Subdivision and Development Coordination team as a Planner I.

You will be involved in identifying issues and implementing creative solutions to planning and land use matters with developers, various civic departments, municipal service agencies, and the public. Your professional and customer service skills will assist you in managing, prioritizing, and completing your assignments in this fast-paced environment.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Review and process subdivision Land Development Applications and condominium conversion applications
  • Advise applicants of deficiencies in applications
  • Ensure fees are calculated appropriately
  • Complete technical review of applications and seek input from referral agencies
  • Provide information and interpretation on City of Edmonton bylaws, regulations, and policies as they relate to subdivision and infill
  • Negotiate successful completion of conditional approval applications, balancing municipal needs and requirements with the economic and practical realities of development
  • Prepare files for the Subdivision Authority
  • Review subdivision endorsement submissions to confirm conditions have been met
  • Respond to a high volume of land development inquiries related to subdivision across the city in a timely and accurate manner
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public, other departments, and the development industry on the status of application-related activities
  • Prepare for and attend appeal hearings to provide information and to justify subdivision conditions of approval or defend refusals
  • Maintain records to ensure accessibility for future retrieval of information and compliance with provincial legislation
  • Conduct site inspections when necessary
  • Other related duties as required
