Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) is seeking a dedicated Public Safety Business and Data Analyst to play a vital role in our organization. This is a unique opportunity to act as the primary system owner for our essential Records Management System (RMS), which captures critical data from emergency calls. As the Public Safety Business and Data Analyst - RMS, you will hold primary ownership of the EFRS Records Management System (currently Target911), a critical tool for our operations. Your responsibilities will span the full lifecycle of system management, including user access, training, process improvements, and vendor liaison. You will harness data from the RMS, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and other sources to create impactful reports, dashboards, and queries for our Analytics and Quality Improvement Team. This position directly supports the EFRS Fire Rescue Master Plan and Strategic Plan by identifying efficiencies, ensuring provincial compliance, and performing data quality assurance to enhance our service delivery.
What will you do?
- Serve as the system owner and primary administrator for the EFRS Records Management System, managing front-end and back-end functionalities, user access, and vendor communications
- Champion data governance principles and best practices within the branch, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effective use of EFRS data
- Provide key data from the Target911 system, creating impactful reports and dashboards from needs-gathering to implementation
- Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary projects related to RMS enhancements or replacements, ensuring project objectives are delivered on time, within quality standards, and on budget
- Develop and monitor data quality assurance processes, investigate and resolve data issues, and create comprehensive system documentation like data dictionaries and metadata guides
- Oversee and conduct training for RMS users, such as fire captains and crews, and provide ongoing technical support to ensure effective system use
- Identify opportunities to improve RMS workflows and efficiency using customization tools to develop forms, reports, and processes that align with operational needs
- Lead complex data analysis, statistical modeling, and trend identification to generate actionable insights that inform strategic and operational decisions related to performance and resource deployment
- Provide technical and operational support for EFRS records and reporting systems, investigating and resolving complex data quality issues and system anomalies in collaboration with users, the Open City and Technology (OCT) branch, and vendors
- Translate complex technical information and analytical findings into clear, understandable terms for a variety of audiences, including senior management and non-technical operational staff
