What will you do?
Under the supervision of a Traffic Systems/Operations Engineer, you will;
- Collaborate with professional engineers to provide technical guidance to field staff, perform acceptance testing on new technologies, and contribute to the design of intelligent transportation systems
- Act as a key technical support for our Traffic Management Centre, troubleshooting and maintaining the complex systems that ensure safe and efficient traffic flow
- Play an active role in project management by helping to plan, oversee, and execute traffic signal and ITS projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
- Review and evaluate new technologies to be deployed and propose which solution best meets requirements
- Develop and maintain critical asset management systems, creating and improving databases to track our vast inventory of traffic management equipment
- Review operational issues, collect and analyze data, and provide technical recommendations to professional engineers on everything from signal timing adjustments to the implementation of new procedures and equipment
- Provide maintenance support for equipment and systems in the Traffic Management Centre and network. E.g. maintenance scheduling, troubleshooting non-functional equipment, upkeep database and connectivity to servers
- Provide responses to the inquiries received from the public, collaborators, members of Council and the other City staff regarding traffic signal, street lighting and traffic control device operations
- Perform other related duties as required
