Job Description

Part Time Instructor Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of a Part Time Machining Instructor include but are not limited to:

  • Lecture and or Lab instruction for Machine Tool Technology (MTT) courses coving topics such as:

  • Metrology

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Machining

  • CNC Milling and Turning (Lathe)

  • CADD and Additive or Subtractive Manufacturing

  • Demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures and ensure adherence to safety precautions. 

  • Develop syllabi and course materials.  Instruct students in accordance with curriculum standards and objectives. 

  • Independently evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.  Make necessary provisions to meet learning needs. 

  • Provide advisement to students.

  • Attend staff meetings and recruitment activities as requested.

  • MTT courses will be primarily taught at the Henderson Campus, in-person.  MTT courses may be scheduled during the day, evenings, and or weekends.

Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.

This position will be paid $925.00 per credit hour. Credits will vary by semester.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Machining or related engineering field.  OR

  • Five (5) or more years of pertinent industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum requirements, the department encourages applicants with the following credentials to apply:

  • Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred.

  • Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

  • Computer literate in MS Office.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.

  • Leadership/ Management Experience

  • Ten or more years of work experience in Machining

  • Fifteen or more years of work experience in Manufacturing or Industrial Technologies.

  • Two or more years of experience teaching in Career and Technical Education.

  • Industrial Certifications such as NIMS, NC3

  • Experience teaching on-line/hybrid classes, Canvas preferred.

  • Experience creating college curriculum.

  • Experience developing an industrial lab in a college setting, such as a Machining, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Technologies.

  • Experience working in diverse multicultural situations.
