Job Description

This search is for two positions, one at the North Las Vegas campus, and one at the Henderson campus.

Must be willing to travel to other campuses as needed.

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive employment, career, and transfer planning services to CSN students and alumni ensuring that they can effectively plan for the future, as it relates to the financial, exploration and networking marketability aspects of career success, which results in experiencing career readiness upon their departure from the institution.

This position provides career exploration to students through administration and interpretation of career assessments, providing labor market information and aids in the development of students' career-related decision-making capabilities. This position provides career coaching, including seminars and workshops on interviewing techniques, resume preparation, use of online job search tools & other job search skills training.

Additionally, this position prepares and provides students with the necessary resources and guidance to transfer to a 4 year-institution. This individual is expected to have knowledge pertaining to the transfer process as well as develop events centered around CSN students/alumni who are preparing to transfer. The Senior Specialist in Career & Transfer Services will actively cultivate relationships and expand networks with staff, students, alumnae, parents, community partners, and employers throughout the region in order to support the CSN mission and enhance innovative programs, experiential learning experiences, and work opportunities. This individual must take the initiative and be a self-starter as it relates to the increase and maintenance of student engagement, career readiness and the transfer process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Counseling, Education or related field from a regionally accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2 years of experience in Workforce Services, Human Resources or a related field and experience in administration of employment/training programs, career assessment, employer relationship building and knowledge of the labor market & local economy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters' degree in Social Sciences, Counseling, Education or a related field from an accredited college/university.

  • Experience Working with diverse populations.

  • Excellent computer skills including database management, word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to model these skills.

  • Data management and reporting skills.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Ability to interpret career assessments and assist students with career decision making.

  • Ability to coach students on the skills, abilities and required documents needed for a job search.

  • Ability to assist/guide students through the transfer process.  Knowledge of labor market information and career & occupational resources.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to create and deliver high quality/engaging workshop and classroom presentations.

  • Ability to advertise and organize employment events within the business community and assist with employer's recruitment.

  • Ability to counsel employers on fair labor standards and employment law.

  • Knowledge of internship opportunities and assisting employers with the development of new internships.

Salary information:

Administrative Faculty C - The starting salary is $53,805.
