The Clinical Nutrition Services Manager demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

The Nutrition Manager is responsible for all personnel and systems functions related to the development and management of the Food Service operations at Covenant HealthCare to include cafeteria services, bake shop, coffee shops and catering/special events. This person is also responsible for safe and efficient operations of the kitchen and provides support to patient food services and clinical functions/staff to ensure the delivery of quality nutritional service to meet the individual patient requirements. The Clinical Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for all personnel and systems functions to ensure the delivery of necessary clinical patient services related to Clinical Nutrition.

This manager should also possess a working knowledge of the Coordinator role.


Ensures that all regulatory and HFAP standards are in compliance and HACCP guidelines are followed including quality improvement.
Develops and ensures compliance with cash management protocol.
Coordinates activities and manages staff to provide for the delivery of quality food services to include retail catering, cafeteria services, special events and patient meals.
Responsible for planning, developing implementing and maintaining optimum clinical nutritional care for patients throughout the continuum of care.
Approves patient's menus and supplements
Develop and monitor strategic initiatives for customer satisfaction and Press Ganey goals.
Identify and implement multi-disciplinary team strategies to achieve customer service performance levels consistent with organizational objectives.
Provide for the management of human resources in assigned areas to include hiring, coaching, mentoring, counseling and disciplinary action as required.
Coach and mentor Coordinators and staff to allow maximum opportunity for development. Provides feedback as appropriate to recognize accomplishments and correct deficiencies.
Develop and consistently enforce departmental policies and procedures.
Ensure appropriate schedules are established, posted and enforced per policy and support the payroll process as established by guidelines.
Ensure that all employee annual Performance Evaluations are prepared and presented to employees at the appropriate times
Build effective working relationships and a spirit of teamwork within and between individuals and work units.


Other information:
Required: Bachelors Degree and Registered Dietician Certification
Preferred: Masters Degree
Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in management of Clinical Nutrition and/or Diabetic Education programs
Preferred: outpatient clinic experience and/or inpatient clinical services experience
Systems and project management
Preferred: CBORD and EPIC EMR experience or familiarity

Preferred: Certification in Serv-Safe and HACCP protocols
Knowledge of HFAP requirements for appropriate clinical discipline
Demonstrated awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and policies related to confidentiality.
Technical knowledge, skills and abilities in: Food preparation and operations management protocols to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Demonstrated sound judgment in difficult/sensitive situations
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications
Demonstrated ability to meet Covenant's Leadership Expectations to include: Strategic Leadership, Character, Interpersonal Skills, Job Performance and Results.
Ability to learn Organization specific computer applications (i.e. CBORD, AS400 and EMR)
Demonstrated ability to develop and lead teams.

Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
