POSITION SUMMARY

  • Registered Nursing Assistants are an essential part of the nursing team. They provide direct care for residents that are consistent with each resident's plan of care and provide a “homelike” environment for the resident. Registered Nursing Assistants must continually work toward the achievement of the goals of CRMC. Quality care and overall efficiency are essential components to this success.

    • Trained Medical Assistant (T.M.A.) duties apply ONLY to those that have completed the TMA certification process, received training, and been assigned to TMA duties.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience:
    • Successful completion of the Registered Nursing Assistant Course.
  • License/Certificates:
    • Certification with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
  • Special Skills and Aptitudes:
    • Basic understanding of the usual methods used in providing personal care for residents.
    • Capable of following and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
    • Effective interpersonal relation skills, observational and reporting skills.
    • Knowledge of applied science principles in situations involving procedures, hygienic and safety measures.
    • Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the direct care of residents assigned to him/her under the guidance of the LPN or RN.
  • Provides care in a manner that protects and promotes resident rights, dignity, and self-determination.
  • Attends 12 hours of in-services per year.
  • Reports significant resident data to LPN and/or RN.
  • Offers and respects resident choices in matters of daily routine.
  • Refers to resident by proper name unless resident requests otherwise.
  • Maintains compliance with state and federal guidelines as instructed.
  • Monitors physical environment for safety or fire hazards and corrects or reports problems immediately.
  • Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
  • TMA duties:

    1.  Effectively utilize computer systems required for this position (i.e. Point Click Care, e-MAR/TAR, email, Net Learning, Technical Life Support, etc.)

    2.  Be a role model.  Provide oversight and monitor NA/R staff to ensure resident needs are met, report performance concerns to leadership.

    3.  Accurately and effectively deliver prescribed medications to residents within normal time limits, to include but not limited to:

    • Maintain appropriate security of Medication Cart
    • Proper administration of oxygen delivery systems
    • Blood Glucose monitoring
    • Provide proper wound care
    • Properly order/re-order medications
    • Properly use emergency equipment
    • Properly use Nebulizers
    • Properly use blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, thermometer
    • Proper use of any other instrument utilized in this TMA role

    4.  Appropriately communicate via written or verbal methods.  Inform licensed nursing staff of resident conditions and/or changes to conditions.
