Summary:

The Behavioral Intervention Clinician is responsible for providing direct clinical care, support and training services to individuals with Mental Health (MH)/Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD), their families and their teams. The Behavioral Intervention Clinician is responsible for the development of behavioral intervention plans for these individuals in a variety of settings. The Behavioral Intervention Specialist works closely with the individual and their identified team to monitor the development and implementation of behavioral programs. This position is responsible for ensuring individuals' rights and quality programming in accordance with the principles of recovery and resiliency, self-determination, positive approaches, CSG policies and applicable regulations. The Behavioral Intervention Clinician reports directly to the Mobile Behavioral Intervention Services Coordinator.

This position is part of our Adult Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MH/ID) Services.

Full-Time (40 hrs./wk.) Monday to Friday hours from 9 AM to 5 PM. No on-call, weekends, or holidays required. Mileage reimbursement paid for work-related travel

Wage Information:

$52,000/year. $3,000 sign-on bonus paid at the successful completion of initial evaluation period.

Job Description:

  • Works directly with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat emotional and mental illnesses, behavioral challenges and to promote wellness.

  • Conducts multi-dimensional assessments including functional behavioral assessments, motivational assessment scales, and other necessary assessments as needed.

  • Utilizes direct instruction, coaching, modeling and facilitation to teach skills.

  • Designs, implements and monitors behavioral plans/ crisis management plans for individuals with mental health needs and intellectual disabilities.

  • Provides information, training and technical assistance to teams in the areas of trauma, dual diagnosis, psychiatric symptom management, positive behavior supports, autism, behavior shaping techniques, crisis management, etc.

  • Leads and facilitates teams and provides conflict resolution within teams.

  • Acts as a resource person for the individual, nurse, interdisciplinary team members and other auxiliary staff in areas related to behavioral programming.

  • Participates in team meetings, therapy appointments etc. relating to individuals as requested in order to provide guidance and support to staff.

  • Monitors individuals' progress through direct interaction, on-site visits, data collection and analysis to ensure appropriate and adequate team follow through with behavior plans, tracking sheets, psychiatric PRN protocols and other monitoring tools.

  • May be requested to participate in the development of individual service or treatment plans to determine long and short term goals.

  • Works closely with other specialists to maximize the level of care.

  • Completes documentation in accordance with CSG, regulatory and payer standards in the areas of assessments, behavioral plans, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge procedures, and other individual related activities.

  • Participates in education and other activities necessary to maintain competency in clinical work and to utilize best practice standards.

  • Knowledge of best practice behavioral interventions.

  • Knowledge of dual diagnosis (mental illness/intellectual and developmental disabilities), including psychiatric disorders, symptom identification and psychotropic medications.

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent developmental stages.

Qualifications:

This position requires one of the following combinations of education and experience:

Minimum of two years of direct practice experience with individuals with MH/IDD diagnosis or closely related practice area. Must have current license as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Additional requirements include:  

  • Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend trainings, meetings, and to travel to individuals' homes, work locations, offices and other settings where services will be performed.

  • Travel is required throughout Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties. Documentation may be completed remotely.
