Overview

  • This position has a potential for a 3-4 work week schedule .
  • Provide oversight of the Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) Food Pantry to ensure all DCC patients and their families experiencing food insecurity have timely and easy access to the resources of the DCC Food Pantry. Coordinate ongoing operations of the DCC Food Pantry, including clinical workflows, inventory management, supply ordering, volunteer coordination, and engagement with community partners at The Upper Valley Haven.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide monitoring and oversight of the Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) Food Pantry
  2. Receive, manage, and follow-up on referrals to DCC Food Pantry, responding promptly to both planned as well as same day add on requests for food support
  3. Proactively contact patient's ahead of time to offer services, obtain food orders, and coordinate delivery times.
  4. Arrange delivery assistance to patient's car or to a mutually agreed meeting location.
  5. Document DCC Food Pantry visits in Epic and other systems for tracking purposes
  6. Coordinate patient referrals with the DCC Community Health Resource Specialist
  7. Facilitate regular meetings to ensure smooth operations of DCC Food Pantry, including monthly stakeholder meetings, regular staff meetings, and other meetings as needed or assigned
  8. Train volunteers and coordinate and manage volunteer schedules and duties.
  9. Collaborate with providers and staff across all settings to ensure efficient workflows and smooth operations of the food pantry with timely responses to requests for assistance
  10. Contribute to continuous monitoring and improvement of food pantry services
  11. Provide monthly food pantry operations and volumes updates to community partners, DCC leadership, community members, and community partners as needed or required
  12. Coordinate with community partners on inventory management to ensure complete and timely food deliveries.
  13. Follow protocols for maintenance of cold storage and arrange service for equipment as needed
  14. Coordinate with facilities on updates and maintenance of food pantry space, including food storage, pest control, and other space needs
  15. Track food pantry volumes and report out to community partners on a monthly basis
  16. Communicate supply inventory and ordering needs twice a week with DCC community partner
  17. Track spending and oversee budget. Ensure food pantry invoices are processed and paid.
  18. Work with philanthropy and donors to the food pantry
  19. Other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of relevant business or supervisory experience, preferably in a health care environment.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, oral, and writing skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • High level of integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Experience engaging with a diverse population
  • Possess an interest in social justice and have experience working with underserved populations
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and experience with successful engagement with a diverse population including patients, providers, staff members, volunteers, and others to build community and engagement
  • Excellent networking and oral/written communication skills with the ability to relate and deal effectively with physicians, administrators, support staff, and the general public with tact and discretion

- Servsafe training (can be completed upon hire)
