As a Civilian Physician Neurologist Sleep Medicine you will: Serves as a board certified physician in Sleep Medicine in the Sleep Clinic responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic. The presence of multiple chronic conditions and a wide range of sleep and breathing disorders and diseases, complicated diagnoses and treatments, requiring the training and experience of a board certified specialist in Sleep Medicine.
Works under general supervision of the Medical Director, Sleep Disorders Clinic and the Chief, Department of Medicine, who discusses policies and objectives. Incumbent is assigned the full range of cases, including the most difficult in their specialty. Assigned cases often have overlapping complex conditions that involve complicated diagnostic and testing procedures.
Treatment of these cases requires the incumbent to have and maintain very advanced knowledge and skills and selection from a wide variety of treatment alternatives. There is no direct supervision of the incumbent; and the individual exercises independent judgment in selection and performance of the full range of diagnostic evaluations for patients. Incumbent works independently in accordance with methods and practices of the medical profession and established administrative policies as an expert in the field of Sleep Medicine.
