AmeriCorps Vista Recruitment Flyer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Working in a team setting, provide services to low income communities, low income individuals with disabilities, low income adults and youth, unemployed individuals, low income formerly incarcerated adults and youth, low income veterans and family members, formerly incarcerated individuals and individuals along with family members experiencing homelessness.
  • Assist low income individuals with high school and/or alternative education completion, financial aid, and admissions application in order to enroll in a post-secondary education institution.
  • Create promotional marketing materials, newsletters, emails, event flyers and other electronic communication campaigns for the Educational Opportunity Center. Develop and maintain a social media presence for the program.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students, Student and Educational Services, and Enrollment Management to assist students with student support services.
  • Search opportunities for community outreach and college involvement
  • Recruit volunteers and assist with training for substance abuse prevention and treatment programs
  • Develop student workshops on study skills, test taking, note taking, student success, financial literacy and financial/economic workshops; develop career assessments, career exploration, and job shadowing placement
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate training programs and campaigns designed to educate K-12 and college students on prevention of substance abuse.
  • Identify community-based volunteer guest speakers for workshops
  • Develop partnerships with employment and job placement agencies
  • Research strategies for successful mentorship programs and identify community mentor volunteers; assist in research pertaining to retention and increase in graduation rates.
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule events and presentations
  • Create and maintain student information filing system and conduct internal audits of student files
  • Create a directory and distribution list of community agencies and resources by county and focus area
  • Assist with grant applications and student performance reports
  • Maintain updates on Federal TRiO, State, and Federal laws and regulations
  • Support team as needed; may include administrative assistant duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 1 year commitment
  • 35-40 hrs/wk
  • Seeking individuals with solid interpersonal skills
  • Ready to make a difference
