Description

The Durham, NC VA Health Care System is seeking a part-time Neurologist with subspecialty expertise in Sleep Medicine to join our team. Providing care throughout the Medical Center as required in the forms of outpatient clinic, inpatient consults, and E-consults. Ensuring of practice-based learning and improvement. Utilize scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care. Demonstrates behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, understanding and sensitivity to diversity, a responsible attitude toward patients, and their profession. Evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with sleep disorders including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, REM behavior disorder, periodic limb movement disorder and others. Prescribing initial positive airway pressure (PAP) settings, evaluate, and manage all modalities of PAP including making necessary changes to pressure settings, evaluation, and management of sleep related ventilatory disorders. Providing interpretation of sleep studies and sleep oximetry. Ordering, interpreting, and following up on a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies. Some inpatient and outpatient Neurology coverage can be expected as part of the Neurology team. Initiation of consults and referrals and prescribes medications/orders supplies in accordance with VA policy, VA formulary, and State/Federal regulations.

Mon-Fri 8am -4:30pm.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State.
  • Board Eligible accepted, Board Certification preferred
  • Potential academic appointment with Duke University
  • Prior experience in academia preferred
  • Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good
    health for our Veterans
  • Predictable work schedules and a focus on quality rather than volume.

  • Competitive Pay $210,000 - $260,000 annually
  • Annual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per year
