The VA Medical Center (VAMC), located in Beckley, WV, is an 18-bed general medical and surgical facility with a 50-bed Community Living Center (CLC). We are adding an Optometrist to our highly qualified care team, who is highly motivated and shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US veterans.

OPTOMETRIST OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly motivated optometrist, with an unrestricted OD medical license, who shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US Veterans. The Optometry Service seeks a patient-centered provider to add to our team at our Beckley VAMC.
DUTIES:
- Provides quality patient care to outpatients
- Consistently demonstrates expertise in diagnosing and treating seriously ill, multi-symptomatic patients
- Successfully integrates patient care activities in Optometry Service and other patient care programs of the clinic and in the community
- Keeps informed of developments in the management and treatment of eye and systemic diseases through continuing medical education, both formal and informal
- Participates in multidisciplinary activities involving treatment plan and discharge of patients
- Participates as a peer reviewer when requested
- Attends facility and service meetings and participates in committees as assigned
- Assists in the development and implementation of care programs in Optometry Service
- Participates in the formal education of residents, optometry externs, and other trainees by presenting teaching rounds, lectures, conferences, etc.
- Assists in the growth of the clinic through performance improvement projects/discussions
