The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) consists of two inpatient campuses located at Little Rock and North Little Rock and eight Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS). Little Rock is the capital city of Arkansas, located in the central part of the state. Little Rock has earned a reputation among history buffs, foodies, and art lovers as an exciting place to live. The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System is pleased to announce that we are seeking a full-time, permanent Optometrist for our Hot Springs VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The position reports to the Optometry Section Chief or his designee. The position will encompass diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with ophthalmologic diseases in an outpatient setting. The Optometrist will use ophthalmic testing instruments and equipment in the performance of direct patient care to provide General Optometry services for scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and add-in patients. He/She will be responsible for providing appropriate education for the patient and/or family members regarding the patient's illness and management. Ophthalmology, sub-specialists, other physicians, and fellow staff optometrists are available for consultation. He/she will be able to participate in coordination of care with other specialties within CAVHS. The candidate shall be expected to participate in optometric duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, improvement and with other performance improvement activities at the direction of the Section Chief Optometry, Surgery Service, and the Chief of Staff. They will teach and oversee optometric students who are rotating in the North Little Rock optometry clinic. The optometrist will adhere to the scope of practice which fully details the roles and responsibilities of this position.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm with 25% rotation between Hot Springs, Conway, Little Rock Campuses.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
