The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, Jackson, MS is seeking a full-timePhysician (Chief Geriatrics Extended Care), board certified or board eligible, to join our expanding clinical practice. We are fully committed to providing top quality medical care by serving and honoring America's Veterans.

Candidate must possess MD/DO from an accredited institution, have completed residency training to board certification, and possess an active, current, unrestricted license in any U.S. State or territory.

Clinical Responsibilities:
Incumbent spends 20-40% of time with clinical responsibilities. During clinical time the incumbent will: a) Provide Direct Patient Care-20% up to 40%

  • Diagnose and treat medical and geriatric disorders using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care.
  • Be responsible for timely completion of all GEC clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center as appropriate and outcome data as appropriate.


Administrative Responsibilities:

Incumbent spends 60-80% of time leading and managing the GEC Service Line. This includes but is not limited to supervising a variety of positions including administrative positions, physicians, and nurse practitioners.

  • Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staff.
  • Has direct administrative supervision of the Geriatric services ( HBPC director, Geri-PACT providers, and CLC director) and Hospice & Palliative Care physicians and nurse practitioners.


Highlights of this opportunity:

  • Potential starting base salary range: $230,000-$280,000
  • Daily schedule: Monday-Friday 8am - 4:30 pm
  • Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5 days paid for CME)
  • No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
