Description

Physician to collaborate with Women Veterans Program Manager, staff Gynecologist and Women's Health Director in the delivery of comprehensive health care for women in the VAPIHCS including its community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). This physician will be fully qualified and certified to function in a clinical role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the VAPIHCS. This individual is delegated the authority and responsibility in his/her area of expertise to assume clinical duties related to the delivery of comprehensive women's health care.

The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary focus of clinical practice is the delivery of care to an assigned panel of women Veterans. Comprehensive primary care including health history, physical examination, diagnostic evaluation and clinical intervention, prevention, self-management, patient education, and specialty consultation will be provided to female Veterans in the Primary Care team setting.
  • Provide preventive health care, gender specific care, gynecological care, birth control counseling and management, pre-conception care, breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings, HPV/flu/pneumococcal/COVID vaccinations, pelvic exams, treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections, pelvic/abdominal pain, menstrual concerns, urinary incontinence, mammograms, wellness and health living, nutrition and weight management, smoking cessation, and patient education to Veterans in the PACT setting.
  • Functions as a member of a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), collaborating with clinical and administrative support to provide timely, quality, coordinated care for Veterans.
  • Provide appropriate disposition of identified health care problems.
  • Inform Veterans to accomplish shared decision making in medical treatment/regimens.
  • Demonstrate medical expertise in diagnosing and treating multi-symptomatic patients.
  • Utilizes and promotes approved standards of care, procedures, methods and techniques, safety precautions and protocols in their application to this population in all settings.
  • Collaborates with other health care resources to ensure continuity of care.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm; possible Saturday rotations
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
