The Highlights: Reporting to the Associate Director of Procurement, the Category Manager will lead IS/IT category strategies and strategic sourcing events and will support other category and supplier management activities for categories of spend across the university, with input of spend analytics and budget forecasts. This position works closely with multiple business areas and stakeholders to establish business requirements, conduct analysis, evaluation, and sourcing negotiations.  This position is responsible for managing and delivering strong results that support the goals of the organization and provide significant value.


What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, management, and performance of sourcing strategies within IS/IT category and others, to meet business goals and objectives. 
  • Researches and benchmarks current commodity market conditions/trends, developing technologies, supply chain capacity/capability and product knowledge to inform category strategy meet customer requirements and supply/demand challenges. 
  • Recommend and implement process changes and enablers required to shift current fragmented spend and project purchasing to a category management methodology. 
  • Develop Key Performance Metrics, including savings plans, and track and report actuals against target. 
  • Discretionary spend for all categories is approximately $154,000,000
     

What You'll Need:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, a Master's degree is preferred
  • 7+ years of Strategic Sourcing experience
  • 7+ years of Procurement experience supporting IS/IT category
  • 5+ years experience applying Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in category
  • 5+ years of experience working within a cross-functional team
  • Demonstrated solid analytical skillset (i.e. expert/advanced proficiency within Microsoft Excel, Oracle experience is a plus)
  • Advanced analytics skills including cost modeling, TCO, and Net Present Value (NPV)
  • Ability to derive insights from analysis to inform category strategy and achieve business outcomes
  • Ability to establish key performance measures for relevant spend category (e.g., cost per unit, total product expense)
  • Effective problem solving, planning, and project management skills
