The Commencement and Student Records Coordinator has two primary responsibilities: Coordinating the LAS portion of the annual graduation ceremony and supporting the LAS Records Team in the LAS College Office.
Responsibilities & Duties
Analyzes and ensures the appropriate application of credit toward the degrees of new and continuing LAS undergraduate students using the Degree Progress Report (DPR).
Ensures the confidentiality and integrity of student record information in accordance with FERPA regulations.
Liaises with college and university partners to ensure consistent application of policies and practices.
Communicates with students about records-related issues.
Coordinates all operational activities for the undergraduate portion of LAS commencement which includes, but is not limited to:
Attending monthly commencement planning meetings.
Participating in commencement-related events.
Distributing commencement information to prospective and current graduation applicants.
Co-editing the commencement program book.
Overseeing a team of approximately 15 commencement marshals.
Directing the LAS undergraduate portion of the ceremony.
Answers students' inquiries about commencement and informs them of their graduation status.
Supports daily operations for the office at peak busy times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- BA/BS degree, or equivalent experience, with three years of customer-oriented office experience.
Experience with PeopleSoft software.
Other Skills & Abilities Reqd
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint).
Ability to prioritize tasks (meet deadlines) and work on various projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
Must exercise independent judgement.

Must be present to coordinate the LAS June Commencement which usually occurs annually on the 2nd Sunday in June. Must attend various university-wide Commencement planning meetings and other Commencement events throughout the academic year.
