General Summary
The Data Analyst is responsible for querying data, performing basic statistical analyses, and communicating and/or visualizing data to support critical operations of the College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM). The data analyst will collaborate closely with the Dean, Associate Deans,  school directors, and the CDM student services and admission offices. The analyst will oversee college data management processes and reporting, and assist with ad-hoc data requests. Candidates for this position should have experience with SQL programming and relational databases, and be familiar with data analytics tools such as Tableau and Microsoft Excel.  

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Responsible for querying data from the University data warehouse and internal databases.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining Tableau dashboards and reports for internal and external audiences to support college decision-making. 
  • Perform basic statistical analysis including computing descriptive statistics, data visualizations, correlation, and cross-tabulations. 
  • Implement and maintain data tools to support curriculum development and analyze the impact of course changes. 
  • Manage the college online teaching evaluation system.
  • Provide timely and accurate data reporting and statistics to federal and other external agencies regarding student enrollment and headcount information.  
  • Manage CRM campaign emails when needed, and administer teaching assignment letters.
  • Assist with ad-hoc data requests and projects.
  • Serve as liaison with University Committees focused on data and reporting including the Data Warehouse and Tableau working groups, and the Enrollment Planning Committee. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with coursework or experience in a technology field.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL programming.
  • 3+ years of experience with querying Data warehouses.
  • 2+ years of experience with data visualization tools and software such as Tableau.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical techniques, including descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and cross-tabulation.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft including Student Administration, Academic Advising Modules, and PS Tools is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, and respond quickly to change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree.
