Job Details

General Summary

Provides insight, guidance and reporting regarding shrink and damages trends and root causes to various teams throughout the organization. Collaborates with merchandising, supply chain, store operations, and other cross functional teams to maximize SKU and category profitability.  The individual in this role should be a data enthusiast and translator, who can easily move between preforming complex analysis on large data sets to presenting opportunities to increase profitability to senior leadership.   

 

   

Maximize category profitability
Represent store operations in merchant category reviews; assess current status of shrink and damages and the impact these data points have on bottom-line profitability to senior leadership
Identify and communicate trends and root causes impacting SKU and category profitability to various teams throughout the organization
Provide additional support and insights to merchandising leaders and suppliers on current trends and potential impacts of current or proposed merchandising programs
Identify potential areas of opportunity to realize incremental profitability by implementing source-tagging, defensive merchandising, or alternative POG ideas
Forecast and communicate to key stake holders the estimated impact to shrink and damages from novel merchandising programs Project Management

 

Project Management

Development of opportunities: Identifies sources of opportunity, develops solutions, and determines the size of each solution
Data measurement: Analyzes and gathers data to evaluate and diagnose issues, develops metrics to measure impact of projects
Implementation: Develops tests/pilots to prove or disprove hypotheses, determines financial impact, creates final implementation plan, presents final rollout plan to leadership


Reporting Management
Create new reports: Development and creation of reporting upon request by store operations and other groups to keep senior leaders informed of current trends and potential risks arising from internal and external influences
Enhance reporting: Continuous re-evaluation of current reporting suite to leverage latest system upgrades and technology advancements
Distribution: Automation of scheduled reports to user groups; support questions and comments.

 

Ad-Hoc Analysis
Perform ad-hoc analysis to help explain current business trends and their potential future impact

 

 



Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Must be able to:

  • Work within large data sets to identify potential drivers of emerging problems
  • Develop creative and financial-changing solutions to identified problems
  • Design and execute testing scenarios to validate potential solutions
  • Design and execute appropriate analyses to size potential impact of problems or solutions (i.e. development of financial models and/or sensitivity scenarios)
  • Create and execute an implementation plan for rollout to network
  • Lead multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Prioritize projects based upon solution impact, time to implement and/or direction from leadership

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Manage multiple tasks, both tactically and strategically, in a fast-paced environment
  • Effectively work in collaboration with a team to achieve objectives
  • Partner, coordinate, and delegate to all levels of management
  • Interpret operating statements and manage budgets
  • Innate interest in data analytics and leveraging data to find creative business solutions
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others
  • Proven track record of producing results that meet or exceed financial goals and objectives
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, as well experience working within a data warehouse

Basic knowledge of retail accounting processes.
