GENERAL SUMMARY:

This field-based Maintenance Specialist role is responsible for responding to and resolving maintenance issues at Dollar General stores within an assigned geographic region.  The responsibilities include immediate in-person response to plumbing repairs and/or maintenance issues of their assigned Dollar General store locations.  Expectation is daily support through commuting to the store location, based upon the priority of the repair. 

 

Responsible for interacting and providing customer service to all levels of operational leadership (Store Managers, District Managers, Regional Directors, and Divisional Vice Presidents). The role is responsible for advancing the mission of customer service and brand growth through the execution of Dollar General's maintenance standards.     

 

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

This field-based position is deployed to specific Dollar General stores, through an internal maintenance ticketing system to assess and repair malfunctions or interruptions to the business on an as-needed basis.  100%

  • While the Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for assessing and repairing malfunctions or interruptions at stores, there will be an emphasis on repairing plumbing-related issues.
  • The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for traveling to the sites where maintenance concerns have been reported by store leadership.
  • The individual must diagnose and service on-site projects within the assigned geographic operating area, which includes but is not limited to repairs, installations, and servicing.
  • Repairs will be expected to be appropriately documented and resolved within a designated time frame to meet the needs of the business.
  • The individual must keep supply list and normal parts on-hand in order to ensure expeditious repair times.   Order parts through designated supply house.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based upon the urgency of the repair.
  • While on-site, perform checklist to determine if preventative maintenance or small maintenance activities can be completed and perform those tasks while at location

 



Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve repairs
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Advance plumbing technical expertise
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes, maintenance, and installation techniques
  • Relevant experience and applicable vocational or technical license
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels – store employees, field leadership, senior executives, and external partners
  • Unbridled commitment to customer service
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

  • 3-5 Years' experience in the plumbing field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% (overnight travel not expected)
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record Check

 

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Conduct some repairs in odd positions and/or confined or close spaces.
  • Occasionally exposed to changing climatic conditions and extreme heat and cold.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling on a repetitious basis.
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to noise and heights.
