JOB PURPOSE

The AVID Site Coordinator is responsible for leading and managing the vision for AVID within the school improvement process, organizing all resources for implementation of AVID and collaborating with all stakeholders for successful schoolwide AVID outcomes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and lead an active, participatory AVID Site Team.
  • Act as the liaison with the School Leadership Team, Counselors, AVID Teachers, and AVID District Director to advocate for the implementation of the AVID framework schoolwide.
  • Collaborate with School Leadership Team around the development of the master schedule to ensure AVID and AVID Excel students are accessing at least 1 accelerated course.
  • Use the AVID selection criteria for recruitment of AVID and AVID EXCEL students for the secondary elective.
  • Recruitment, training, and evaluation of AVID College and Peer Tutors.
  • Collaborate with the School Leadership via the Site Team to collect all data and coordinate the annual certification process with the use of the Coaching & Certification tool.
  • Utilize and promote the AVID print and online resources for schoolwide professional development and AVID methodologies, tutor trainings, site team planning, and AVID and AVID Excel teacher training.
  • Gather evidence, with the assistance of the AVID Site Team, to demonstrate that AVID strategies are used effectively in the AVID/AVID Excel elective classes and schoolwide.
  • Coordinate all AVID trainings, in and out of the district, in order to ensure implementation of AVID schoolwide and in the AVID/AVID Excel Elective classroom.
  • Attend AVID Coordinator meetings, trainings, Summer Institutes, National Conference, and to her professional developments to receive updates and grow in AVID knowledge and expertise.
  • Collaborate with other district schools to articulate the curriculum, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular activities for AVID.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school and district.
  • Maintain a cooperative, professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Develop and maintain community and collegial partnerships to promote the college and career readiness culture and expose students to knowledge of opportunities beyond high school.
  • Coordinate and organize AVID family nights, graduations, field trips, curriculum, recruitment, and informational nights and other events as assigned.
  • Model lessons to support teachers in the implementation of AVID strategies in the classroom
  • Plan and participate in instructional planning and development session with AVID elective teachers to assure and sustain high quality, rigorous, and engaging courses for students.
  • Create opportunities for AVID and AVID Excel Teachers to connect with Core teachers of their students to ensure alignment to tutorials, instructional strategies being used, and individual student needs.
  • Develop plans for implementation of AVID strategies across all disciplines that take into account individual school initiatives.
  • Assist campus with data analysis and the development of action plans in response to the data.
  • Utilize technology to assist with the individual coaching sessions and data collection and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Valid Teacher Certification preferrable secondary ELA, Math, Science or Social Studies
  2. Experience Academic Coaching or Mentoring Teachers
  3. AVID experience preferred
  4. Master's degree preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

 

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY Exempt (salary)

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

 

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.
