Job Summary:
The Advance Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant is an expert clinician and patient advocate in a particular specialty or subspecialty of nursing practice. The Advance Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant provides direct patient care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning health promotion and preventive care within this specialized area of practice and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of health problems according to established joint nursing/medical protocols. In addition to direct practice, the sub-roles of the role includes education, research and consultation. The Aprovider is involved in indirect practice activities with the goal of improving the quality of care across the continuum of care.
