JOB OVERVIEW:
This role supports the FP&A function of the Northeast region and reports directly to the Finance Manager. It is ideal for someone who enjoys working with large datasets and solving complex process challenges. The primary focus will be on variable compensation related to producer and broker commissions, with opportunities to expand into financial analysis, monthly close support, and special projects. Over time, this role is expected to take increasing ownership of the producer compensation process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual producer commission statements for 100+ producers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate, track, and escalate producer compensation inquiries, maintain organized documentation, process payments and related accounting entries.
- Learn and navigate the complexities and limitations of large internal datasets, applying sound judgment to interpret producer compensation data that may not always present clearly.
- Participate in efforts to standardize, automate, and improve compensation processes, templates, and data workflows.
- Assist with efforts to reconcile producer payable balances between internal systems, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Assist with monthly close activities, including preparation and booking of regional allocation journal entries and revenue reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial packages for one or more business units.
- Assist with the annual budget process and quarterly forecast updates, including data gathering and financial model support.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
- Advanced Excel proficiency required, including XLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, and Power Query.
- Familiarity with SQL, VBA, and Oracle EPBCS is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognize data anomalies, trends, and root causes across large, complex data sets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to commute to both Melville, Long Island and Midtown, NYC offices as needed.
COMPENSATION:
The national average salary for this role is $90 000.00 - $100 000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
