Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Director of Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI) located in Guadalajara, North Campus.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Engineering NPI role involves drive new technology as complex processes. To lead and ensure the successful introduction of new products from design phase to full-scale production, meeting all targets in terms of timeline, cost, quality, and manufacturability. The role requires cross-functional leadership, coordination of internal and external resources, and alignment of customer requirements with manufacturing capabilities, technical and commercial skills, accountability, leadership, teamwork.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Develop and lead the NPI strategy across multiple customers and product lines.
  • Coordinate the execution of new product projects through all phases (Planning, design, validation, ramp-up, and delivery additional of NPI phases such as: Prototype, EV Engineering validation, DV Design validation, PV process validation, SOP start of production).
  • Manage resources from Process Engineering manager, Quality Engineer manager, Product Engineer manager, Material manager, Logistics and Production manager to meet key deliverables.
  • Ensure implementation of DfX (Design for excellence), includes design for manufacturing or manufacturability (DFM).
  • Oversee the implementation of Design fixtures & Gauges, Design fixture to facilitate production, design gauges to measure critical to function (CTF) dimensions of product, process check list, Gauge R&R on fixtures & gauges, gauge design logic and tolerance .
  • Work Instruction, exploded view of 3D model, SOP process controls in place into the work instructions, fixtures, gauges, and assembly line layouts.
  • Track and drive performance using key KPIs: On-Time Delivery (OTD), First Pass Yield, launch cost adherence, ramp-up efficiency, readiness audit scores.
  • Collaborate with product engineering and customers to assess risks and propose technical solutions, Product documents, 3D, 2D, design intent, workmanship, ensure critical to function (CTF) dimensions process control, develop process mapping from fabrication parts, develop bill of materials (BoM) structure, traceability.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from prototype to full production (handover to operations).
  • Lead phase gate reviews and progress meetings with senior leadership and customers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, standardization, and lessons learned in product launches.
  • Experience to transfer projects from NPI to sustaining, following the process and methods established and making the handshake between both areas in order to have a smooth transition process.
  • Leadership: Inspires and guides multidisciplinary teams through complex, high-impact projects.
  • Communication: Clearly communicates across all levels—from operators to executives and external clients, builds trust and drives alignment between engineering, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Promotes innovation, learning, and process excellence in every launch

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, Mechanical, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in NPI, manufacturing, or process engineering in the metal-mechanical or automotive industry.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent projects, ideally in multinational environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of APQP, QCP Quality control plan, PFMEA, control plans, process flows, layouts, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align NPI activities with long-term business goals and customer roadmaps, quickly identifies root causes and implements effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Time Management: Prioritizes effectively across multiple projects, ensuring timely decision-making and delivery.
  • Customer Orientation: Maintains a strong focus on quality, responsiveness, and long-term satisfaction.
