Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Supplier Quality Engineer located in Guadalajara North Campus.

Reporting to the Supplier Quality Engineering Manager the Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier development in a manufacturing or service process; works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls, and develop quality assurance plans.

What a typical day looks like.

  • Ensures supplier selection, development, approval and rejection according to SJM vendor guidelines and requirements.
  • Material (Component) Qualification---Implement PPAP (FAI). PPAP includes FAI, Material Certificates, Quality/Process Control Plan, FMEA, MSA, Process Parameter Sheet, RoHS compliance, Reliability Test, COC, etc.
  • Pilot Run Tracking---Track the new qualified parts quality performance to ensure meet the customer quality requirements in pilot run phase. Drive supplier corrective action from supplier in Pilot Runs (1-3 lots) and smoothly transfer the pilot run to mass production.
  • ECO/ECN/SCR implementation---Handle with ECO/ECN/SCR from customer, follow up the status in case that PPAP/FAI is required prior to production.
  • Performs quality audits on suppliers to assure products and services meet International Organization for Standards (ISO) and regulatory standards.
  • Production line support, responding to material problem reports.
  • Supplier PPAP validations and approvals.
  • Generation of material inspection plans.
  • Initiates corrective action requests as needed and follows through to successful completion.
  • Help with the development and implementation of quality audits.
  • Analyzes reports and returned products and recommends corrective actions.
  • Approves the qualifications of products, processes and equipment.
  • Meetings with CFT.
  • Supports Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers with customer interfaces as needed on quality related issues.
  • Communication channel with the client and suppliers. (Complaints, solutions). Point of contact for customers and suppliers.
  • Weekly customer quality report.
  • Quarterly customer business review meetings.
  • Coordination and monitoring of material purges.
  • Personnel Administration.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Industrial engineering or similar.
  • Advanced English is mandatory.
  • Advanced experience as a Quality Engineer and/or SQE Engineer.
  • Experience in the automotive or electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Solid knowledge of supplier evaluation, corrective actions, and supplier audits.
  • Core tools.
  • Handling non-conforming material.
  • Engineering changes with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of supplier selection and qualification processes.
  • Incoming goods process.
  • Personnel management.
  • Availability to travel.
  • Visa and passport are a plus.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and statistical process control.
  • Experience the PPAP's.
  • Problem solving methodology (8D, 5Why, Process Mapping)
  • QCP/FMEA knowledge
  • Intermediate Excel
  • Experience in communication with suppliers
  • Experience in interpretation of plans
  • Basic metrology
  • Schedule availability
  • ISO9001 / IATF 1649 experience desirable
  • SMT experience (PCBA processes) desirable
