Position Summary:
The Special Education Lead Mentor serves as a dedicated advocate and mentor for students with disabilities, providing individualized support to help them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. This role focuses on working 1:1 with a limited number of students who require additional assistance on campus, ensuring they receive the guidance, accommodations, and encouragement they need to succeed. The Lead Mentor also acts as a key point of contact for families, fostering strong relationships and ensuring they feel informed and supported throughout their child's educational journey.
Pay Range: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour USD
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide individualized academic, executive functioning, and emotional support to a small caseload of students with disabilities through regular 1:1 mentoring sessions.
- Collaborate closely with the student's teachers to ensure consistency, accountability, and alignment between classroom expectations and the student's support plan.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share progress, discuss needs, and develop strategies for supporting the student at home and on campus.
- Help students develop executive functioning skills, including time management, organization, prioritization, and task initiation, with the goal of building independence.
- Offer guidance and coaching on social-emotional learning, including conflict resolution, emotional regulation, self-advocacy, and navigating peer relationships.
- Attend all relevant student meetings (e.g., student team meetings, academic planning, behavioral reviews) and serve as the student's primary advocate on campus.
- Monitor student progress in all areas—academic, behavioral, emotional—and collaborate with the campus team to ensure the student is on track and well-supported.
- Serve as a trusted adult and mentor who fosters a strong relationship with the student, encouraging self-confidence, resilience, and overall well-being.
Requirements:
- Master's degree **or** Certificate in Educational Therapy, Special Education, **or** similar advanced educational background in learning disabilities, ADHD, and emotional disorders is mandatory.
- Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is mandatory.
- Four to seven years of experience or training.
- Managerial, program development, and leadership experience necessary.
- A background in counseling or education.
- Patience and a problem-solving approach to issues.
- Working knowledge of special education: the IEP process, 504s, and ISPs.

- Candidate must be prepared to teach and tutor material at a middle school level immediately.
