Description

The Employee Relations Coordinator champions the associate experience by providing support to the Employee Relations Department to ensure timely resolutions to employee relations issues. This role provides comprehensive support by assisting with associate concerns, managing documentation and completing various Employee Relations duties under supervision and direction of department leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs customer service functions by promptly and accurately responding to associate requests and questions.  
  • Complete daily employee relations related activities on an as needed basis. To include advising on Attendance Policy violations, reviewing background checks, executing exit interviews, participation in HFT's Fitness for Duty program, advising on Cash Over-Short policy violations and assistance in the investigation of Shoplifting Prevention and Response Policy violations.  
  • Answers frequently asked questions from associates relative to standard policies and procedures, ensuring understanding and compliance; refers more complex questions to appropriate level of HR partner or department leader.              
  • Manage Fit for Duty active Clinic List to include frequent review and updates as needed.       
  • Support ER Team in case management, handle sensitive ER matters as assigned and with supervision.    
  • Assist in preparing investigation files in preparation of Employee Relations meetings.          
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.     
  • Assists in processing terminations managed by the ER Team.       
  • Reviews Background Checks to ensure accuracy and escalate to appropriate partners as needed.      
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with employment laws, regulations and company policies.   
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Decision making:  Resolves problems, provides consultation on Employee Relations related matters, participates in planning business/departmental objectives, and professionally represents HFT within the scope of job duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Education Requirements
  •  High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in HR or related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience preferred

Years of Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a HR Coordinator or Administrator role, or prior related office experience preferred.

Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trust and rapport, professional demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal
  • Knowledge of modern methods of office administration and business correspondence formatting.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in preparing, handling, and disclosing information of a confidential, controversial and/or sensitive nature.
  • Proficient using standard Microsoft Office Suite and related software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
  • Proficient in the application of Human Resources Information Systems, Case Management and HR Reporting software. UltiPro and Workforce working knowledge beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently when minimum supervision is provided and practice a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Has the propensity to project a positive attitude and look for solutions to problems.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and share ideas to work towards a common goal.
  • Retail or Customer Service experience beneficial.

Physical Requirements
Corporate - Remote - General office environment requiring ability to:
  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time .
  • Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing.
  • Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports.
  • The ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
