Description
This Sr. Yard Driver is primarily responsible for driving trailers to and from receiving/shipping docks inside the yard. Act as back-up to Port Driver as needed. As back-up will be responsible for transporting containers to and from the inland port as directed by the Transportation Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive trailers to and from receiving/shipping docks inside the yard
- Accurately Audit Dock and Yard Locations
- Understand product description, SKU and PO numbers
- Reading comprehension and ability to communicate in writing
- Communicate with team members and gate personnel using two radio system
- Work closely in a team environment to complete daily tasks and goals
- As back-up for Port Driver,
- Safely operate a day cab truck to move assigned containers and chassis to/from the DC yard to the inland port and/or chassis per company procedures and DOT guidelines.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Inspect chassis and container before and after the trip, and record any defects.
- Adherence to all company policies to include all safety rules
- Additional duties as assigned by manager

Requirements
Job Qualifications – Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED equivalent
- Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL)
- Clean safety and motor vehicle record
- Knowledge of DOT guidelines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division)
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to navigate computer system
- Experience in driving trailers
Physical Requirements
- Grasping, pushing and pulling of materials on an intermittent basis for up to ten hours per day
- Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance on an intermittent for up to ten hours per day
- Reaching and working above and below the shoulder level on an intermittent basis for up to eight hours per day
- Bending, squatting, kneeling, sitting, twisting, and reaching heights on an intermittent basis for up to eight hours per day
