Description

The Department of Dermatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking an academic medical dermatologist with interests in patient care and teaching. Our department of 17 dermatologists provides unique opportunities for medical dermatologists to practice and teach at the Medical Center in the Longwood Medical Area and in our department's state-of-the-art practices in Chestnut Hill and/or Needham.

About the department:
In addition to providing comprehensive care in the General Dermatology clinics, the Department also offers 16 subspecialty clinics and programs including atopic dermatitis, patch testing, hidradenitis suppurativa, high risk, pigmented lesions and melanoma. These clinics offer both in-depth and multidisciplinary care for the most complex patient conditions, and provide a more sophisticated learning environment for the Department's trainees. Our cosmetic practice offers a full range of leading-edge services utilizing lasers, radiofrequency microneedling, and injectables. Additionally, an on-site pharmacist and inpatient consult service provide crucial support to patients and faculty.

The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Dermatology research program is comprised of a group of researchers interested in clinical/translational research and epidemiology with a support structure of critical core resources. All faculty are encouraged to develop projects that lead to tangible contributions and a published manuscript.

Academics and compensation:
As a major Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, we are one of the primary training sites for the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Training Program, and we also provide training for medical school students and fellows. Ideal candidates must have excellent clinical skills and a passion for teaching and working with residents. Interest in clinical research is strongly encouraged. The candidate must be board eligible or certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. A commitment to the values of an academic environment is required. Appointment as an Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements in addition to teaching activities. Suitable candidates will have an MD or an MD-PhD, and Board Certification in Dermatology. The compensation package includes an excellent base salary, an incentive program, and generous fringe benefits. Employment and benefits are offered by Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, the physician organization of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and who provide services across the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system.
