Hawthorn Senior Living is a rapidly expanding senior housing company that manages independent living communities across the United States. We are currently seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to join our team at our Vancouver, WA home office.
This is a newly created, in-person position (not hybrid or remote) offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping financial strategy, supporting company growth, and driving data-informed decision-making across our national portfolio.
About Our Opportunity:
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis owns the process of producing valuable insights to improve decision making at all levels of the organization by developing complex financial models, forecasts, and evaluating internal performance as well as external opportunities. This role reports to the Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis at Hawthorn and will also partner cross departments to support critical business initiative using financial and analytical information.

Key Job Functions:
- Build, maintain, improve, and update dynamic corporate model (including multi-year projections, liquidity forecasts, distributions, contributions, etc.)
- Support the budgeting and reforecasting processes.
- Support executive decision-making through scenario modeling, risk analysis, and ROI assessments.
- Analyze market and competition trends to develop targeted pricing strategies across Hawthorn portfolio.
- Create, maintain and improve operational & executive reporting templates and dashboards.
- Provide strategic insight and recommendations across the portfolio, working side-by-side with the Operations and Sales teams, to deliver positive investment outcomes for Hawthorn. Regularly review and assess financial performance and key performance indicators, to spot trends across all aspects of the business in real time.
- Assist with modelling and assessing the risk-reward of large capital investments, including new developments alongside the construction and development team, and value-add capex projects with the operations team.
- Recommend and deliver other actionable process improvements and enhanced analytics to drive strategic decisions to enhance the performance of the real estate.
- Prepare executive presentations and recommendations to senior management and ownership groups as needed.
- Participate in the IT roadmap and systems migration that will allow for enhanced and more efficient reporting.
- Publish weekly dashboards, monthly financial performance presentations, and quarterly board decks that will be shared with capital partners and investors.
- Review and report on all applicable debt covenants as a key liaison with Capital Markets team at the owner groups.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent. MBA or CPA Preferred.
- 8+ years' experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or similar area, with 3+ years in a management/leadership role.
- Proven experience as a finance leader preferably within a senior living, multifamily, and/or commercial real estate product types.
- Deep understanding of financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling techniques.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and influence business strategy.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills required; ability to effectively communicate with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience producing presentation materials for executive and board of director audiences of financial insights and performance results.
- Experience in asset management preferred.
- Must possess high ethical standards consistent with company values (integrity, transparency, trust).
- High emotional intelligence.
- Proven track of successfully managing and developing a team of FP&A analysts
