Job Summary and Qualifications

SCHEDULE:  PRN / Per Diem / As Needed
The Recreational Therapist performs evaluations and provides personalized therapeutic recreational programs to restore, remediate or rehabilitate a patients physical, mental and emotional well being. 

Essential functions include (but are not limited to): 

  • Plans and implements individual and group activities in accordance with patients' individual treatment plans to help reduce or eliminate effects of illness or disability. 
  • Works with patients to recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities, build confidence, improve socialization skills and gain a greater independence.
  • Documents patient activities and progress. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of treatment and modified as necessary to improve treatment outcomes. 
  • Performs discharge evaluations and makes arrangements for home programs and follow-up care as needed. Helps patients access community resources and become involved in community recreational activities. 
  • Participates in rounding and proactively responds to patient needs to improve patient outcomes and positively impact overall patient experience. 
  • Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in therapeutic recreation or activities therapy required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
  • Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) required within 60 days of hire 
  • One of the following required
    • CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
    • MT-BC (Music Therapist-Board Certified)
    • ATR-BC (Art Therapist-Board Certified)
    • BC-DMT (Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist)

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
