Job Summary and QualificationsThe primary purpose of the Regulatory and Accreditation Services Department is to promote safe, high quality and effective patient care through maintaining accreditation, certification and licensure compliance of all facilities. HCA Healthcare clinical strategies and regulatory compliance are foundational to the work of the department.
The Consulting Data Analyst is primarily responsible for management of various data generated by the department and its areas of responsibility. The role is integral in the production of a variety of work products utilized in interdisciplinary meetings to deliver timely, professionally summarized analytics, which inform business operations.
Major Responsibilities:
•Manages, analyzes, and prepares reporting related to the Continual Survey Readiness Evaluation (CSRE) survey, as well as other data produced by the Regulatory and Accreditation Services Department
•Manages, analyzes, and prepares reporting related to external regulatory and accreditation agencies, such as The Joint Commission (TJC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), etc.
•Leads and develops tools and resources for enterprise Regulatory and Accreditation compliance
•Prepares communication for regulatory and accreditation compliance to HCA Healthcare senior leaders, to include executive-level performance points (i.e., senior officers, board, and other committees)
•Analyzes data to identify outliers, best practices, and performance to HCA Healthcare clinical strategies in support of those strategies
•Ensures accurate and timely preparation of work papers and data analysis relating to all HCA Healthcare clinical strategies and goals, maintaining focus on strategic goals of full certification, accreditation and regulatory compliance at all sites of care
•Communicates with division and facility leadership to facilitate closed-loop regulatory and transmittal receipts and performance on active external surveys
•Maintains regulatory and accreditation data which feeds dashboards and SharePoint sites to inform regulatory and accreditation performance at the enterprise, division, and facility levels
•Performs monthly and quarterly quality reports of facility and division performance relative to accreditation, regulatory, and CSRE surveys
•Responsible for the correct data interpretation, facility profiling, division assessment and trending
•Maintains databases, to include (but not limited to): CMS/TJC, 503A/503B compounding pharmacies, etc.
•Interfaces with various departments and organizational entities regarding CSG strategies, reports, and trends and other opportunities to improve efficiencies and identify needed tools and resources
•Maintains regulatory and compliance projects in support of enterprise continual survey readiness strategies
•Leads and develops regulatory and compliance projects in support of enterprise continual survey readiness strategies
•Prepares and assimilates slide decks for various purposes, as needed
•Performs other duties and supports department in timely completion of other projects, as assigned
•Updates job knowledge by setting attainable goals, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
•Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”
Education & Experience:
•Master's degree Preferred
•Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience Required
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
•Adept at using Business Intelligence (BI) tools and writing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries strongly preferred
•Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to look at large chunks of data, identify trends and recommend solutions
•Minimum of one year of previous related experience in healthcare analytics, health information management, or project management in a healthcare setting
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:
•Proficiency in query tools (SQL) and relational databases such as Business Objects, and basic statistical skills and training, as well as Power BI experience, required
•A strong background in quality analytics including, but not limited to, development of key performance metrics, utilization of clinical data warehouse information and reporting tools, basic clinical analytics and benchmarking, and working knowledge of healthcare operations, specifically accreditation and regulatory standards as related to healthcare facilities, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, AAAHC, CMS Conditions of Participation, and state and local requirements
•Strong project management skills – ability to manage and synthesize an entire project into final deliverables in accordance with agreed timelines
•Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform work, special assignments, and tasks under minimal supervision and to escalate to management when appropriate
•Solid organizational skills including superb attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
•Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as graphic presentation skills
•Strong working knowledge of healthcare data and terminology
•Customer orientation to successfully manage relationship with client and all stakeholders, establishing and maintaining long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
•Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with internal and external customers, fostering strong relationships with diverse groups, encouraging accomplishment of mutually-established goals
•Strong working knowledge of applicable accreditation standards and regulations
