Research Psychiatric Center has provided comprehensive behavioral health services for more than 25 years to teenagers, adults and seniors dealing with emotional disorders, mental illness and substance abuse. Research Psychiatric Center is a 100 bed facility.
This is a state of the art technology Transfer Center, in Overland Park, KS. Using a comprehensive computerized transfer center system and In-Touch remote tele health assessment technology, registered nurses utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a psychiatrist will serve to facilitate and support incoming requests for services and urgent behavioral health telehealth assessments. The outcome of the role is to determine and co-facilitate the required plan of care to ensure immediate care needs are met to ensure optimal safety and patient outcomes across the age and mental health disease spectrum. Our assessments may be conducted in emergency room settings, and other locations, and by tele-assessment.
Responsibilities of the role of a Registered Nurse, as it applies to the urgent behavioral health tele health psychiatric assessment triage process, is using the scope of nursing practice and process to assess and document the presentation of patient symptoms then working directly under a psychiatrist for final disposition in care. A essential component of this role is to also provide via EMR clear detailed documentation of the determination of what course of care immediately meets the needs of the patient, ensure coordination and facilitation of that course of care, and to collaborate and communicate inside an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians, emergency room providers and staff, community partners and providers, and departmental and inter-departmental teams. The mobile registered nurse assessor will need to be familiar with and utilize all available resources in addressing the clients' needs to ensure the best plan of care is available and facilitated.

What you will do in this role:
- The role of the Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager / Chief Nursing Officer.
- The Registered Nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Research Psychiatric Center.
What qualifications you will need:Education:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
- Must hold a current license from the Missouri Board of Nursing and KS license also required
- BLS through AHA required
- One to two years of experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting is preferred.
