Overall Summary

The primary function of this position is responsible for assisting in the performance of a variety of tasks related to fabrication, construction, modification, and testing of air beam structures. This position ensures quality and safety practices are met.

Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows and adheres to verbal and written work instructions
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Reports all accidents, violations, or infractions to the Operations Supervisor and/or Operations Manager
  • Observes workmanship of previously made parts and subassemblies to detect defects and notifies supervisor or quality control inspector
  • Completes daily log sheets for assigned work station(s)
  • Assist in troubleshooting production and/or prototype Airbeams with assistance from supervisor, manager, and/or Engineering Dept.
  • May assist with the receipt and distribution of materials
  • Monitor both inventory and non-inventory supply levels at work station and report needs in a timely manner to prevent lost production time
  • Attends training courses deemed beneficial to the position including in-house and external training
  • Supports and participates in the Quality Management Program
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Performs and supports other activities, departments, and related duties as required

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • May participate in lean/six sigma/quality/safety initiatives as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Does not supervise others

Years Experience     

  • 1 – 3 years of industry experience preferred

Level of Education   

  • High School diploma or GED preferred. In lieu of diploma, relevant work experience demonstrating the required job skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the job.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to work from verbal, written or diagram form instructions
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers
  • Ability to work adjusted schedules and overtime when required
  • Knowledgeable about and follows company's Quality Assurance standards as described in the quality manual
  • Operation of small power tools, other hand tools, computerized and high-pressure equipment
  • Goal oriented and team focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Work is accomplished in a moderately clean plant environment
  • The production floor does not have a cooling system
  • The sound level in the work environment may fluctuate due to noises associated with manufacturing process
  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil and/or fumes

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, work overhead with arms, and sit or stand for several hours at a time
  • Eye/hand coordination required, with steady and agile hands to operate equipment and tools
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required per plant rules

Training

  • New employee safety orientation and training on special tools or software required for job performance
