The Sr. Engineering Manager is responsible for coordinating all technical activities of assigned programs including planning, scheduling, and managing personnel and engineering work to ensure effective coordination of projects. Responsible for monitoring engineering work for compliance to industry standards, company practices, and customer specifications. Must possess sufficient technical knowledge and experience to manage larger teams or teams requiring broader experience. Proactively leads improvement initiatives. Guides others leading improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties:

  • Manages larger team or teams requiring broader expertise
  • Mentors and indirectly influences/leads Engineering Managers Supervises a team of engineers on an activity and completion of activity on time and budget while meeting the applicable technical requirements
  • Completes annual performance review process for direct reports
  • Supervises a technical group independently
  • Proactively drives leadership sponsored initiatives and guides others in doing so
  • Manages budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
  • Sets and achieves goals and help direct reports in doing likewise
  • Makes commitments and keeps them
  • Drives the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participates in preparation of proposals
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces, and defends the mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards and expect reports to do likewise
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
  • Available for travel as required

Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited school required; MS Engineering, PE license or MBA preferred. Minimum of five to seven years of experience leading Electrical Engineering personnel required.

  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor others

  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project).
