So what will you be doing all day? You would join us in one of our Lenexa, KS as a Lead Fire Engineer working on things like...

  • Coordinates calculations engineering systems with high degree of independence
  • Conducts research and asks questions when performing unfamiliar tasks
  • Reviews system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics
  • Performs research and makes recommendations as to the feasibility of systems or equipment, and evaluates products for their application
  • Coordinates/reviews/analyzes construction documents as needed
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Participates in company and industry events
  • Grows personal network by building relationships with clients and industry professionals
  • Communicates with clients as necessary for the development of the scope of work
  • May visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress
  • Assists in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors when they arise
  • Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in engineering knowledge on a continuous basis
  • Stays up-to-date on new products, industry trends, and evolving codes & standards
  • Research and apply Henderson's design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Oversees and coordinates all aspects of projects and assumes full responsibility for projects to which they have been assigned
  • Manages overall deliverables in accordance with budgets, schedules, and plans
  • Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: coordinating of design team, mentoring and guiding design staff, ensuring project quality, coordinating project delivery, executing project closeout

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering from ABET-accredited Engineering program and 11+ years of direct experience
  • Professional Engineer license may account for 2 years of direct experience
  • Fire Protection Engineer license (highly preferred)
  • NICET Level 3 or 4 would be a huge bonus!
  • Practical experience in fire alarm detection required
  • Fire alarm smoke control system design experience preferred
  • Sprinkler performance design experience is preferred
  • Experience with industry codes and standards (required)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
  • Revit experience/skills (required)
  • Must have an understanding of other engineering disciplines
  • Must have advanced proficiency of engineering design fundamentals and advanced knowledge of the A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards. Knowledge may be applicable to a broad range of practice, project, or program types
  • Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Possesses effective problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering design software applicable to your focus
  • Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities, and organizational needs
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and takes personal responsibility for job performance
