RESPONSIBILITIES: Independently performs assignments with direction from project leadership. Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team. Participates in review of project costs, budgets and adherence to schedule. Participates in team meetings to help resolve project issues, coordination with other disciplines, schedule adherence, and technical issues. Develops comprehensive understanding of clients' program requirements, standards, and policies. Communicates with client on design requirements, specs, progress reviews, and final delivery. Responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors, contractors, and consultants. Prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings for client/project team review. May plan, organize, and manage a project team. May lead a team, mentor, and direct the work of less experienced staff. May participate in professional development reviews. Sets strategy for the production and organization of documents into files, BIM, or another 3D model. Assists in work planning and scheduling processes. Monitors construction administration document management. Participates in setting up project team software parameters and management of standards. Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects. Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices. Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service. Understands and translates design intent into technical documents. With preliminary direction from the project architect or project manager, analyzes and develops approaches to the creation and modification of architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc. ensuring the incorporation of design intent. With direction from the project designer or more senior design technician, develops, modifies, and/or reviews drawings according to established standards. Assists team leader in ensuring that documentation for all phases conforms to QA/QC and HOK Best Practice Standards. Applies proper QA/QC methods throughout project. May lead this effort. Conducts product and code research and incorporation of codes into technical documents. Assures HOK document standards are met and archives documents appropriately. Facilitates internal and external communications. Assures the overall strategy for producing documents and organizing data will be followed. This includes incorporating elements in a Building Information Model (BIM) or other 3D model. Analyzes and develops approaches to the creation and modification of architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, specifications, etc. ensuring the incorporation of design intent. Responsible for technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project. Develops solutions to design problems. Corrects and updates, making minor adaptations and modifications, to complete working design documents. Attends on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings and documents appropriately. Prepares, coordinates and reviews the schedules, submission of shop drawings and samples. Performs product research; assists project designers with material selection and system research. Coordinates with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations and adjusting scope of services. Writes reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions. Reviews completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations for coordination. Communicates in a clear, concise, and professional manner at all times, both verbally and in writing and will have regular interface with clients. May provide assistance in connection with expertise in particular building types, component, material, element, or building code. May assist Project Manager with defining project work plans. Prepares meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Advanced knowledge of construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems. Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines. Knowledge of QA/QC process. Knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents. Proficiency in Revit required. Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as Sketchup, Rhino, and Grasshopper preferred. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in team environment. Ability to effective meet deadlines. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required. Master's degree preferred. At least 8 years' experience in architecture field required. Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required. NCARB registration preferred. LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
