HOK, a global architecture, design, engineering, and planning firm, is seeking a Design Technology Specialist to join our Corporate Advanced Technology Group. This hybrid position is based in our New York City office, with an on-site presence required three days per week. As a Design Technology Specialist, you will play a key role in advancing the firm's digital practice by supporting project teams, shaping innovative workflows, and applying specialized design technology expertise across a wide variety of disciplines. You'll help ensure that our teams are equipped with the tools, resources, and technical insight needed to deliver world‑class projects efficiently and creatively. Key responsibilities include: Provide expert guidance to project teams on implementing advanced design technology techniques, tools, and workflows. Deliver project-based insights and feedback to the firmwide Design Technology team to help shape standards and innovation initiatives. Serve as a trusted resource in all phases of project delivery, contributing hands‑on support as needed. Stay current with design software advancements, integrated practice trends, BIM technologies, and emerging digital methods. Conduct research on new technologies and evaluate opportunities for firmwide adoption. Contribute to high-quality project deliverables using advanced modeling, computation, or analytic methods. Mentor and coach team members on best practices for digital workflows, modeling, analysis, visualization, and sustainability‑aligned design approaches. Support green workplace and sustainability initiatives through responsible digital practices. Design Technology Specialists support discipline‑specific workflows by developing standardized Revit assets, improving model‑based design processes, and performing advanced modeling or analysis. This may include architectural performance studies (massing, enclosures, egress, sustainability), MEP or structural systems modeling, energy or daylight analysis, CFD, fabrication‑ready modeling, or interoperability with engineering analysis tools.  Who is the ideal candidate for this role? The ideal candidate is a curious, solution‑oriented design technologist who enjoys working across disciplines and helping teams elevate their digital capabilities. They are someone who: Thrives at the intersection of design, technology, and problem‑solving. Has deep experience with BIM, modeling, or computational tools and can translate technical concepts into practical project workflows. Communicates clearly and collaborates easily with architects, engineers, and project managers. Enjoys mentoring others and takes pride in helping project teams grow and succeed. Is proactive, adaptable, and energized by the challenge of improving digital design processes. Brings both precision and creativity to digital design challenges. What kind of education and experience are required? Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in BIM, 3D modeling, computational design, or related digital practice roles. We'd also like someone who has experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Dynamo, Grasshopper), and experience with visualization, simulation, or analysis platforms (AR/VR, CFD, energy modeling, daylighting tools, etc). LEED Green Associate or LEED AP accreditation is preferred. #LI-BH1
