Our Houston studio is currently seeking a Planning intern to join our team this summer. This internship offers an exciting opportunity for students pursuing a degree in landscape architecture to gain practical, hands-on experience. You'll work on real-world projects, learn from and collaborate with talented professionals, and develop skills in a dynamic studio environment. During this internship, you will work with the project team to assist overall efforts in completing various project phases with direct supervision. HOK's planners and urban designers understand that every building and space exists within a larger community context. RESPONSIBILITIES: Works on a full range of assignment in supporting the delivery of all project phases and construction administration. Works to gain experience in comprehensive preparation of master plan reports, construction documentation, and the construction process. Displays the ability to grasp design concepts and express them graphically. Builds models for client/project team review. Compiles data and performs elementary design computations. Performs benchmarking research on programming, comparable projects, and images. Assures HOK document standards are met and archives documents appropriately. Actively promotes a collaborative and innovative culture. Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Currently enrolled in landscape architecture or urban design program. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Proficiency in AutoCAD. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, GIS, Ecotect, and InDesign graphic software preferred. Proficiency in BIM, Revit preferred. Basic knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines preferred. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
